Beyond the ordinary
This page demonstrates my dedication to equitable, culturally responsive, and inclusive teaching. It highlights how I intentionally design instruction that honors students' identities, backgrounds, and lived experiences. My teaching reflects a belief that diversity strengthens learning and that every student deserves to feel seen, valued, and supported.
Aloha ʻĀina Spirit
I strive to embody the Aloha Spirit by creating a classroom filled with kindness, compassion, and mutual respect. The Aloha Spirit guides how I communicate with students through patience, active listening, and genuine care for their well-being. I teach students the importance of mālama to care for another and to build a supportive and inclusive learning community. To incorporate the values of lokahi and laulima by designing activities that require teamwork and shared responsibility. By integrating the Aloha Spirit throughout my teaching, I help students develop not only academic skills but also character, empathy, and respect for their community.
Creating an inclusive learning environment
I design lessons that include multiple entry points so students of varying abilities and backgrounds can experience success. Creating an inclusive learning environment by establishing clear expectations that emphasize respect, kindness, and responsibility. I will create classroom norms that celebrate differences and encourage students to support one another as teammates and learners. By having a routine and consistent structure, this will help each of my students feel comfortable and secure. I strive to make my classroom a space where every student feels safe to try, make mistakes, ask questions, and grow.
Identity, Culture, and Ability!
I believe that students' identities, cultures, and abilities are strengths that enrich the learning environment and shape how they interact with the world. I encourage students to share their experiences, traditions, and perspectives so the learning community becomes more inclusive and interconnected. Recognizing each student's identity including race, gender, family background, and lived experiences and the impact it can have on how they learn and engage in class. I aim to help students develop pride in their identity and work, while also learning to appreciate the identities of others, strengthening our classroom community.
