Welcome!

Aloha everyone! My name is Riki Watanabe, and this is my online teaching e-portfolio. Feel free to explore my work, learn about my teaching approach, and learn the role physical and health education can have on students!

Why I Chose to Become a Teacher

I chose to become a teacher because I believe that physical and health education can play a lifelong role in developing a student's physical fitness. As someone who grew up with a passion for sports and fitness, I saw firsthand how physical movement, positive coaching, and safe learning environments can play a factor in transforming confidence and self-motivation. I want to be an educator and role model who can empower students to make healthy choices and develop the physical literacy skills the need for life!

I view mistakes as valuable learning opportunities and help students develop a growth mindset through supportive, encouraging language. My goal as a educator is to ensure my classroom is full of the aloha spirit and is an inclusive space where every learner can thrive.
